Also known as the brown nosed lemur. Out of the three bamboo species this lemur is the largest. Its main food source is giant bamboo which is getting cut down at a speedy rate to make room for farm land on Madagascar it also eats flowers and fruits. One of the other species of lemur, the ring tailed lemur is in danger of extinction but not nearly as in danger as the Greater Bamboo lemur. both in captivity and the wild there is thought to be around 1,000 left. They are dying off due to farming, hunting, mining and logging
